CWWC #7~ Just a Dream

Hey Dreamers! I’m sorry I didn’t post #6, but I had school. I didn’t want to miss another one, so here I am. I used all three prompts.

Closed my eyes and

walked through the gate

Entered a dream

and saw a land,

Where the city kids had hair

every shade of the rainbow

And their eyes sparkled

every minute of the hour

There were rides,

there were slides,

there was fun

via

I felt a feeling

I hadn’t felt

in a long time

It was “Joy”

I was happy

I was

having fun

It was paradise

But then

there flashed

a sign

“Leave Immediately”

it said

I closed my eyes

in despair

And when

I opened them

I was

in my

bedroom

As I sat

on my bed

I realized

It was a dream

As upset

as I was

I knew

that dreams

had to end

sometime

They were nice

and they made

you feel like

your life wasn’t

a mess

But they were dreams,

They weren’t real

And as fun as dreams were,

I knew

that

I’d

have to

wake up

and

face

reality

CWWC #5 ~ Superhero

Hey Dreamers! You guessed it! Another CWWC post.  I might not be posting as much for a few weeks.  Since school is starting, I don’t want to have to worry about blogging the first few weeks of school. I’ll post whenever I can. Anyways, here’s my story. I used all three prompts.

♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦

“There’s Superman, there’s Batman, there’s Spiderman and then there’s you“, my friend Sam said as we stood on the edge of a cliff . “What about me?” I asked him.

via

“It’s just you Zack! You know, ever since I met you in kindergarten, you’ve been trying to be some kind of hero. You always wore this cape around your neck. You were always a superhero for halloween. Everyday at recess you wanted to pretend to be a superhero. I supported you every single day. I can’t play along anymore. We always did what you wanted. You never asked what I wanted to do. When I said I wanted to read in the library, you wouldn’t listen. When I said I wanted to play tag with the other kids, you wouldn’t listen. Look, I can’t support you on this one. I’m sorry.”

“It’s just a small favor.”

“You’re asking me to give up my life, just so you can be a superhero. Do I have to give up my dream so you can fulfill yours? If so, I’m not ready to do it.”

“What is your dream?”

“I want to be a writer. Live in the city, have fun, find people who share my passion. I can’t do that if I go with you.”

“What kind of friend are you? I would do anything for you.”

“Would you? You wouldn’t come to the library with me. You wouldn’t play tag with the other kids. You wouldn’t come to my 16th birthday because you were upset that got torn. I told you it was okay. But it wasn’t. It wasn’t okay. I was alone at my own birthday. I always went to your birthday. I missed a chance to meet my favorite author, so I could be at your birthday. You know what, you’re not a hero. Wearing a cape does not make you a hero Zack. You’ve been so stuck on being a hero, you didn’t stop to think about anyone else. You didn’t realize that if you did stop to think, you could have been a real hero. I’m sorry. I can’t help you.”

He started walking away.

“Wait!Sam!”

He turned around.

“I’m sorry. But I need to explain why I called you to this cliff. You probably don’t remember…”

“I remember.”

“We both came here one day when we ran away from the class field trip. We decided that one day when we grow up. We’ll jump off this cliff together. Like superheroes. And we’d survive. You see the mountains over there, above the waterfall. I want to move there. You don’t want to, I know, you just told me. But that is the place where I can be a superhero…”

“That’s what I’m trying to tell you Zack. Tell me one time that you’ve helped someone. One time you would consider as your ‘superhero moment’.”

I thought but I couldn’t think of one. I stayed silent.

“That’s what I thought. Why are you so stuck on being a hero?”

“I never told you. But, when I was young, before I met you. I used to have this dream every night. I’d walk into a room. I was all grown up, in a suit and tie. There was a man, there was a blindfold on his eyes. His hands were tied. And behind him were these branches and they were shaped like wings.

via

He’d look up at me and shout. “This is all your fault! You think you’re a hero. But you are not, never were and never will be a hero.” And I’d wake up panicking.”

“I’m sorry I didn’t know.”

“It’s ok. I’m sorry too.”

” I forgive you.”

” So you’re coming with me?”

“No. You’re in this on your own.”

And then he went away. Forever.

She was like a camera

Everyone smiled

when they looked at her

She moved in next door

And from the moment

I saw her

I knew I wanted

One day on my front porch

there was a white box

When I opened the box

I saw a pale pink cake

It made me smile

She told

When I

her house,

she was

in the

kitchen

with a bowl of

a spatula

She didn’t speak

She didn’t make a sound

But the look in her eyes

told me exactly

what was

going to happen

She lunged

at me

and threw

the frosting

on my face

“Feeling better?”

She asked

with a smile

I smiled back

and threw

some frosting

back at her

Soon the kitchen

was a mess

But we

were laughing

and that was

all that mattered

That’s the kind

CWWC #3~ Book of Lies

Hey Dreamers! For today I am doing the third challenge of CWWC. These are the prompts I used:

via

via

Here’s my story:

Pages burning

within the flame,

The book of lies

is all to blame.

It was a journal, filled with lies. Lies I told everyone else. Lies I told myself. I had been a liar my whole life.

Ever since I was young, I’ve wanted a perfect life. I always believed that you have to be popular to be happy.  I worked so hard, trying to be in the “popular” group, trying to fit in. I was happy. Or I thought I was.

On my thirteenth birthday, my younger sister Bella (9 years old). She gifted me a journal. She had personalized the cover herself. It was a pale pink and in beautiful calligraphy, my name was written in gold paint. Underneath the paint was a small golden heart. It was handmade. My friends and I didn’t like hand-crafted things. My friends were all rich and they believed that you can never have anything that’s not store-bought. My sister was gazing up at me hopefully, waiting for a response. I just stiffly said “Thank you.” My sister should know better than to give me something she made herself. She looked disappointed. Riley, my best friend noticed this. And with a snarky smile she said, “If you want your sister to appreciate your gift, next time put in some more effort and buy something. Anything is better than something made by a 9year old.” Bella sadly walked away with angry tears in her eyes.

The next day, Bella came into my roman threw a store-bought notebook on my bed. “To make up for yesterday. I’m sorry me gift wasn’t good enough. I hope you’re happy Sophie”, and she stomped out. That’s the day I started writing in my journal. I felt like doing something. So, zI just sat on my bed and wrote. I used the store bought notebook, because I knew it would ruin my reputation if I used the one Bella made.

I started writing in my journal everyday. I told Riley about it, but she just laughed and said, “You’re kidding. Right? Journaling is for dorks. If you really are journaling, then it could ruin your reputation. We have to focus on our studies and sports. That’s why you didn’t make the volleyball team. You were to busy writing in that journal, You need to stop writing in that journal.”

I felt ashamed of myself. But something inside me made me want to keep writing. This time I did’t tell anyone. I kept it a secret.

A few days later, it was one of my friend’s birthday. It was a sleepover party. Riley had come over, so we could carpool together. While we were doing our makeup, Bella barged in. She always interrupted a good time. “Sophie, I need to talk to you”, she said nervously.

“Sophie does not have time to spend with a silly third grader”‘ Riley retorted.

“I didn’t ask you, Riley.”

“Don’t talk to me that way. I’m your sister’s best friend.”

“And I’m your best friend’s sister. I just want a few minutes withe Sophie.”

I was exasperated. “Okay. Five minutes only. Begin.”

” We need to talk privately.”

I sighed and told Riley ” I’ll be right back.”

We went in Bella’s room.

“Sit”, she said.

“I can’t sit. I need to pack my clothes for the sleepover party.”

“You’re not going to the party.”

“What!?”

“Mom and dad said so.”

“What about Riley?”

“Mom will drop her off to the party.”

“What the heck? When did you plan this.”

” Yesterday. At the family meeting. I told mom and dad that I needed to have a talk with you. And they agreed.”

“You had a family meeting without me?”

“I asked you. You said you had better things to do. Maybe if you had come, you could have gone to that sleepover”

“What do you want?”

“To ask you some questions.”

” Go ahead.”

“What’s your greatest fear?”

“What kind of a question is that?”

“Just answer me.”

“Not being popular.”

“No.”

“What?”

“You’re lying.”

“Why would I lie about what I’m afraid of?”

“Let’s try something else. What’s your favorite hobby?”

“Doing things with my friends.”

“Also a lie.”

“How do you know I’m lying?”

“Because you always do. Why do you hate me?”

This took me aback, but I stiffly answered.

“Because you’re weird and annoying.”

With tears in her eyes she shouted:

” Stop lying to me.”

“Ask no questions, get no lies.”

“I read your journal.”

“You did what?”

“Why do you care. Nothing in your journal is true, you’re lying to yourself. You can’t admit how you really feel. You’re not writing down your true feelings. You’re living a lie. Your journal makes it look like you have a perfect life. You are it seem like everything is fine.”

“Everything is fine.”

“No! It’s not fine. Your journal is a lie. As much as you try to push away reality, it’s still reality. You have to learn that life is not perfect. Nor are you. Popularity doesn’t mean a thing. What’s the point of life if you can’t enjoy it. You’re not happy. I can tell. Are you? Are you happy?”

I stayed silent.

“That’s what I thought. As much as you want to deny it, you don’t like who you pretend to be and you don’t like the fact that you can’t be yourself. How far can you go to be popular? You sacrificed yourself.  You think that nobody will like you for who you are. You’re wrong. You can have so much more if if you could accept who you are and be happy. Please come back. I miss you and I really, really need you. Please.”

Bella was crying by now. I looked at her and wrapped her up in a hug. I didn’t care that my favorite dress was getting ruined by her tears and mine. I didn’t care that if my so-called friends saw me write now, they would tease me. I didn’t care. And just like that, a huge weight had been lifted off my shoulder. I looked at my sister and wiped her tears. “We should burn that book”, I said.

Here we were. In our backyard, ready to burn the book. Our parents had given us permission  to do it as long as we didn’t burn the house down.

“Go ahead”, said Bella.

I nodded and threw my journal in and watched it burn.

“Wait!” Bella shouted as she ran to the porch where we had kept a bucket of water (just in case). She came back with the water and splashed it all over the fire and me.

“What was that for?” I shouted.

She picked up the burnt up journal and said, “Incase you need a reminder.”

Lessons learnt

Book burnt

A

time to

start over.

Hope you liked the story! Have a nice day/night!

CWWC #2 ~ Dear Vivian

Hey Dreamers! I’m here with the second challenge of CWWC. I had to delete the first one for personal reasons. I used all three prompts. Here we go:

Dear Vivian,

Last weekend, I visited our hometown, where we grew up together. The place was in ruins. It was horrible ViVi, seeing the place we grew up, burnt down. Tears well up in my eyes just by thinking about it. I’ve tried forgetting about it, but i can’t. I remember it vividly. It comes in my dreams sometimes. The flames spreading around town, people panicking, both of us trying to escape together. Nobody has cleaned up the ruins. They think it’s a waste. I had to go there ViVi, I had to see it again.

While I was there, I noticed a part of town which wasn’t  burnt. It was gloomy and dark. The trees had no leaves and grass was dry.

via

It was so strange. The fire hadn’t affected this part of town at all. What was even weirder was that I didn’t remember this part of town. But, I had a nagging feeling that I had seen it before. I thought back. I thought for hours. Then I remembered. Oh, I wish I hadn’t remembered. We had tried to forget it so hard.

When we were twelve, we were walking around town distributing cookies, for a kindness campaign. We knocked on the door of a gray house. A young man opened the door. “Hi! We’re giving out cookies for a kindness campaign. Would you like chocolate chip, sugar or oatmeal?” you had asked. The man looked at us and with a sly grin he replied “how sweet! Please come in.”

“No that’s fine actually…”

“I insist”, he interrupted.

We went in with bright smiles on our faces, with no idea what we were getting ourselves into.

“Guys!” the man called out, “we have company”.

We looked at each other confused. The next second two other men came out.

“Wait, wha…”

They grabbed us and dragged us into the basement. I was terrified. When we reached the basement, they threw us in. We gasped at what we saw. There were other kids there. Their legs were chained and they looked like they had been starving.

via

I was horrified. They were going to do the same thing to us. Suddenly, a phone rang. Irritated, one of the men picked it up. “It’s  from the boss”, he said “he needs all of us to discuss something.”

“You! Stay here”, grunted the other man.

As soon as the left, you started panicking. “We have to get out of here.” You were saying. You looked around and spotted a window. “We have to escape!” You said shaking me. Dropping the cookies, you ran towards the window.

“We can’t leave all these kids behind!” I protested.

“Yeah! take us with you”, a little boy said.

The other kids started protesting too, but you wouldn’t listen.

“I don’t care about them, I only care about us.” You said.

“Vivian!” I had screamed ” What is wrong with you? We are not going to leave them here to starve to death.”

Frustrated, you just sighed. I was releasing some of the kids, when we heard footsteps. Now I started panicking. “ViVi we have to go!”

We jumped out the window. One of the captured girls, came up to the window and tried to come out. The kidnappers were coming. We couldn’t risk it. You closed the window and I mouthed “I’m sorry”.

“You will regret this.” The girl shouted.

We ran away and we were safe.

I did regret it. The kids were innocent. We had a fight after that escape. I called you a coward for not wanting to rescue the kids. And you wanted to make it up to me. We stopped talking to each other. I want you to make it up to me now. I think that there are people working for the same person our kidnappers worked for.I think they’re still capturing kids. Don’t let it end like this. Tell them I said something. Tell the kidnappers, that what they’re doing is wrong. And tell the kids, that I’m sorry we couldn’t rescue the kids that were kidnapped before them and I tried my best. I want you to do this alone. I need you to do this alone because I want God to forgive you. God has forgiven me because, I tried to rescue the kids. You didn’t even care to help me rescue them. I know you’ve changed. I know that God will forgive you if you try. Just try to do this and you will be forgiven by God and we can be friends again. You’re their only chance of having a good life.

Your  friend,

~Hope

I hope you guys liked the post. It’s not the best piece of writing, but that’s how you learn. Bye!
