Dreamer Diaries #2

Hey Dreamers! Today I decided to do another Dreamer Diaries post. Here we go:

♥♥♥♥♥

I have 59 followers right now. Wheeeeeeee! That’s a lot. My goal is to get to a 100 before the year ends. I have my fingers crossed that we can get there.

♥♥♥♥♥

Believe it or not I still haven’t designed my dividers and sign~off. Like my header, I wanted to draw something and use that for the sign~off and dividers The problem is, I have no idea about what I want to draw.

Any ideas for what I should do for my sign~off and dividers?

If you do, please leave a comment.

♥♥♥♥♥

I finally finished reading Harry Potter. It was amazing. Once, I had put a hold on it from the school library. I waited three months for it, and I still didn’t get it. Now that I’m in 7th grade, my Language Arts teacher had the book in her little classroom library. I immediately asked her if I could borrow it. She said yes, so I spent days carrying that book around everywhere.

If you could have one of the three hallows: the invisibility cloak, the resurrection stone or the elder wand. Which one would you choose?

I would pick the invisibility cloak.

For all the book dragons out there like me, do you ever love a book so much that you carry it around everywhere just in case you have time to read it?

♥♥♥♥♥

At the start of the school year, the school told us that they were going to have a time capsule that would be opened in about 10~20 years. So we were put into groups, and each group had to make an artifact that represents the school. The school chose 4 artifacts that would go in the time capsule. I was in a group with 3 other amazing girls. This is what we made:

Yup! A mini~library. Isn’t it adorable? They chose ours! YAY! The principal told us that she loved ours very much and she asked us to give a speech in front of the whole school. We were the only student speakers. We were so excited! It went great. Yesterday my mom took me and 2 of the other girls for ice cream to celebrate.

If you built a time capsule, what would you put in it?

♥♥♥♥♥

I hope you enjoyed that post. Have a great day!

Dreamer Diaries

Hey Dreamers! Today I’m going to start a new series on my blog called Dreamer Diaries where I tell you anything and everything about my life. And I made up this series just in case somedays I don’t have time to write a quality post. So I’ll just write one of these!

Okay let’s begin. I have a few questions for you:

Did you notice the new blog design?

Do you like it?

So, I sat down to write a post and then I decided: “You know, it’s time to change my blog design. Then I got out my sketchbook and drew a bunch of headers I could use. I tested out multiple themes. I finally chose one and tried my favorite on it. It didn’t work. So I went through many others until I found this one. By the way, this theme is called Penscratch 2. And then I thought the header looked to plain. So, I went to picmonkey and edited the photo/drawing and put a quote on it to fit my blog. And here it is. I really hope you like it. I love it. The theme is really customizable you can do anything with it.

♥♥♥♥♥

On to other things. This year I had to move schools because they built a new school and I have to go to the new school. So in the last 3 years, I have switched school 3 times! Isn’t that crazy?!

♥♥♥♥♥

My dad’s birthday is coming up soon. Me and my mom have picked out a gift for him. And I’m going to make something that I will reveal after his birthday. Just in case he decides to read this blog.

Any of you celebrating a birthday this month?

♥♥♥♥♥

Do you ever have the feeling that you’re forgetting something when you’re actually not? And then your day becomes even worse because you actually DID forget something very important.

♥♥♥♥♥

Right now I’m reading a book called Counting by 7s by Holly Goldberg Sloan. A few days ago I finished a really good book. It’s called A Mango~Shaped Space by Wendy Mass. It’s an amazing book. I recommend it to everyone.

Have you read any of the books I mentioned above?

What book are you currently reading?

♥♥♥♥♥

And with that I conclude this post. I hope you guys like these kinds of posts. New sign-offs and dividers coming soon!

I was so happy when she picked me out of the box and smiled at me. But then when her dad was paying up the nice lady at the shop put me in the paper bag. I couldn’t wait to get out of there. It was super-bumpy in the car. After what felt like ages we reached home and I was FREEEEEEEEEEEEE!

Now that I’ve told you my journey let’s sit down and chat! I’ll telly you guys about myself.

My birthday is on November 14th. I’m going to throw a huge party and you guys have to come! My favorite color is blue if you can’t already tell. I love talking and making friends.I don’t like being quiet and reading or whatever quiet people do. It’s so boring. I also love being outside and I especially love picnics. I mean who doesn’t?

I want to go to Wonderland and meet the Cheshire Cat! I’m so excited to be blogging now it’s fun. But I have to go now I’ll see ya soon!

~Daisy

CWWC #3~ Book of Lies

Hey Dreamers! For today I am doing the third challenge of CWWC. These are the prompts I used:

via

via

Here’s my story:

Pages burning

within the flame,

The book of lies

is all to blame.

It was a journal, filled with lies. Lies I told everyone else. Lies I told myself. I had been a liar my whole life.

Ever since I was young, I’ve wanted a perfect life. I always believed that you have to be popular to be happy.  I worked so hard, trying to be in the “popular” group, trying to fit in. I was happy. Or I thought I was.

On my thirteenth birthday, my younger sister Bella (9 years old). She gifted me a journal. She had personalized the cover herself. It was a pale pink and in beautiful calligraphy, my name was written in gold paint. Underneath the paint was a small golden heart. It was handmade. My friends and I didn’t like hand-crafted things. My friends were all rich and they believed that you can never have anything that’s not store-bought. My sister was gazing up at me hopefully, waiting for a response. I just stiffly said “Thank you.” My sister should know better than to give me something she made herself. She looked disappointed. Riley, my best friend noticed this. And with a snarky smile she said, “If you want your sister to appreciate your gift, next time put in some more effort and buy something. Anything is better than something made by a 9year old.” Bella sadly walked away with angry tears in her eyes.

The next day, Bella came into my roman threw a store-bought notebook on my bed. “To make up for yesterday. I’m sorry me gift wasn’t good enough. I hope you’re happy Sophie”, and she stomped out. That’s the day I started writing in my journal. I felt like doing something. So, zI just sat on my bed and wrote. I used the store bought notebook, because I knew it would ruin my reputation if I used the one Bella made.

I started writing in my journal everyday. I told Riley about it, but she just laughed and said, “You’re kidding. Right? Journaling is for dorks. If you really are journaling, then it could ruin your reputation. We have to focus on our studies and sports. That’s why you didn’t make the volleyball team. You were to busy writing in that journal, You need to stop writing in that journal.”

I felt ashamed of myself. But something inside me made me want to keep writing. This time I did’t tell anyone. I kept it a secret.

A few days later, it was one of my friend’s birthday. It was a sleepover party. Riley had come over, so we could carpool together. While we were doing our makeup, Bella barged in. She always interrupted a good time. “Sophie, I need to talk to you”, she said nervously.

“Sophie does not have time to spend with a silly third grader”‘ Riley retorted.

“I didn’t ask you, Riley.”

“Don’t talk to me that way. I’m your sister’s best friend.”

“And I’m your best friend’s sister. I just want a few minutes withe Sophie.”

I was exasperated. “Okay. Five minutes only. Begin.”

” We need to talk privately.”

I sighed and told Riley ” I’ll be right back.”

We went in Bella’s room.

“Sit”, she said.

“I can’t sit. I need to pack my clothes for the sleepover party.”

“You’re not going to the party.”

“What!?”

“Mom and dad said so.”

“What about Riley?”

“Mom will drop her off to the party.”

“What the heck? When did you plan this.”

” Yesterday. At the family meeting. I told mom and dad that I needed to have a talk with you. And they agreed.”

“You had a family meeting without me?”

“I asked you. You said you had better things to do. Maybe if you had come, you could have gone to that sleepover”

“What do you want?”

“To ask you some questions.”

” Go ahead.”

“What’s your greatest fear?”

“What kind of a question is that?”

“Just answer me.”

“Not being popular.”

“No.”

“What?”

“You’re lying.”

“Why would I lie about what I’m afraid of?”

“Let’s try something else. What’s your favorite hobby?”

“Doing things with my friends.”

“Also a lie.”

“How do you know I’m lying?”

“Because you always do. Why do you hate me?”

This took me aback, but I stiffly answered.

“Because you’re weird and annoying.”

With tears in her eyes she shouted:

” Stop lying to me.”

“Ask no questions, get no lies.”

“I read your journal.”

“You did what?”

“Why do you care. Nothing in your journal is true, you’re lying to yourself. You can’t admit how you really feel. You’re not writing down your true feelings. You’re living a lie. Your journal makes it look like you have a perfect life. You are it seem like everything is fine.”

“Everything is fine.”

“No! It’s not fine. Your journal is a lie. As much as you try to push away reality, it’s still reality. You have to learn that life is not perfect. Nor are you. Popularity doesn’t mean a thing. What’s the point of life if you can’t enjoy it. You’re not happy. I can tell. Are you? Are you happy?”

I stayed silent.

“That’s what I thought. As much as you want to deny it, you don’t like who you pretend to be and you don’t like the fact that you can’t be yourself. How far can you go to be popular? You sacrificed yourself.  You think that nobody will like you for who you are. You’re wrong. You can have so much more if if you could accept who you are and be happy. Please come back. I miss you and I really, really need you. Please.”

Bella was crying by now. I looked at her and wrapped her up in a hug. I didn’t care that my favorite dress was getting ruined by her tears and mine. I didn’t care that if my so-called friends saw me write now, they would tease me. I didn’t care. And just like that, a huge weight had been lifted off my shoulder. I looked at my sister and wiped her tears. “We should burn that book”, I said.

Here we were. In our backyard, ready to burn the book. Our parents had given us permission  to do it as long as we didn’t burn the house down.

“Go ahead”, said Bella.

I nodded and threw my journal in and watched it burn.

“Wait!” Bella shouted as she ran to the porch where we had kept a bucket of water (just in case). She came back with the water and splashed it all over the fire and me.

“What was that for?” I shouted.

She picked up the burnt up journal and said, “Incase you need a reminder.”

How to start a Diary/Journal

Hey Dreamers! A few months ago I started writing in a journal. I’ve tried keeping a journal before, but this time I actually stuck with it. Journaling is a great way to get your feelings down on paper and record your experiences. Today I will be giving you some tips on keeping a journal. Lets begin:

1. Finding the perfect notebook.

You can use any notebook you want for a journal. It doesn’t matter, but make sure it’s a pretty notebook so that you have the urge to write in it. Also make sure it’s not too fancy, because you may not feel like writing in it, for the fear of ruining it. This is my journal:

It’s just a normal notebook that I decorated to make it more personal. Right now it has pen marks all over the cover, but I don’t care. Just make sure it represents you.

2. Don’t be afraid to put down your deepest feelings

It can be hard to accept your feelings and write it down. And there’s always the fear that someone will read your journal. But you have to know that this is your journal, and if someone reads it, it’s an invasion of your privacy. Don’t be afraid to write down whatever you feel.

3. Personalize it

Your diary doesn’t just have to be full of words. You can always do little drawings or doodles in them. You can even write little stories or poems. If you search online ideas for journal ideas, you’ll find tons of things. But sometimes the pictures you see online can be overwhelming. Just remember that this is your journal. Nobody else is going to see it. So if you just want to write down your feelings and not anything else, it’s completely fine. Just do what you want.

4. Push yourself to write everyday

It takes 21 days to build a habit. It’s a fact. So push yourself to write in your journal for 21 days without skipping a day. It worked for me.

5. Don’t be afraid to take breaks

If you don’t want to write in your journal one day, just don’t. Writing in your journal shouldn’t be a task. It should be something you do because you want to do it. If you want to take a short break, do it. Don’t stress yourself about it. Writing in a journal is supposed to be a fun hobby. Don’t turn it into a task.

6. Be Random

Your journal entries don’t have to be like stories, they don’t have to be in chronological order. You can be random. Just be sure that when you re-read your entries you understand them.

7. Don’t be afraid to quit

Journaling isn’t  for everybody. So if you’re not enjoying it don’t feel the pressure to continue.

That’s it for this post. Thanks for reading.

Stereotypes that I Hate

Hey Dreamers! I hope you are having a wonderful day. Before I start todays post I’d like to tell you guys that I will not be doing the photo story that I promised in one of my older posts. I know that it’s really irresponsible of me, but I don’t think the idea really excites me anymore. I’m really sorry but I will do the photo story series sometime later but not right now. Thanks for understanding.

Okay, now putting all that behind, for this post I will be sharing the stereotypes that I hate the most. First of all, you should not believe stereotypes. I believe everyone has the right to choose what they like and we shouldn’t judge people because of their looks, gender or skin. Let’ begin:

1.Girls are not good at sports.

Gender stereotypes are really wrong. I personally am not good at sports but that doesn’t mean other girls aren’t. Girls are just as athletic as any boy, and they could even be better at sports than some boys. I know some girls who are really good at sports and could beat any boy.

2. If you like reading and have good grades you’re a “nerd”/ If you wear glasses you’re a “nerd”

I can prove that this stereotype is wrong. The dictionary meaning of nerd is: a foolish or contemptible person who lacks social skills or is boringly studious.

And if you think that just because I have glasses means I’m a nerd you’re wrong. Wearing glasses does not affect your personality. Glasses are things that you wear when you can’t see well. You either have them or you don’t. It doesn’t matter and it doesn’t change who you are.

Just because I like reading, get good grades and wear glasses doesn’t mean I’m a nerd. I feel like this word is used in a wrong way most of the time, even in books and movies.

]3. Pink is a “girl” color and blue is a “boy” color

Most of the time when people think of a girl they think…pink! And when they think of a boy they think…blue! Personally I think this is absolutely ridiculous. Pink and blue are just colors. If you look around you’ll notice how many people believe that stereotype. Most of the toys for girls are pink and most of the toys for boys are blue. For children’s birthdays too, the girls decorations are mostly pink and boys are blue.

My mom told me that for my first birthday she had asked for blue balloons. But the people who were decorating the place got red balloons instead. When my mom questioned them he said ” We always do red for girls”.

Another story is when I was invited to a party of one of my classmates. I made him a card with a drawing of a birthday cake. I had colored it with lots of colors. When I gave it to him, he said “Next time don’t put pink on it.” I know he didn’t mean to offend me but it was really stereotypical.

4. Smart girls are not pretty and pretty girls are not smart

Let me start of by saying all girls are equally beautiful and smart. This stereotype is hurtful to all girls. And it’s not what’s on the outside that matters. It’s what’s on the inside that does.

5. Women need men to save them/ Women can’t save themselves

Many fairytales and Disney movies show that women are ‘damsels in distress’. In most of the fairytales and movies there’s always a man who rescues the woman. This gives the wrong idea to little girls. It makes them think that they need a man to save them. Little girls need to know that they are capable enough to save themselves.

Sorry if this was full of complaints. I just felt like I needed to get it out there. I feel like this is something important people should know, because stereotypes can be really hurtful and they are just lies. It really hurts when people believe these lies. Thanks for reading this far. If you are still reading this right now:

Comment below a stereotype that you hate.
