Living ~ A Poem

We’ve got this

great big earth

right in front of our eyes,

with wide open lands

and beautiful blue skies

We have this

wonderful universe

right within our touch,

so many people,

so many stories,

what did we do

to deserve so much?

So let’s

open the door,

Let’s be free

and explore

There’s a

whole new world

out there,

with little treasures

so exquisite and rare

Let’s make the best

out of this beauty

we’ve been given,

Let’s dream big

and let’s start living

Hey Dreamers! I hope you enjoyed this post! All the pictures are just some old pictures that I’ve taken over time. I had already picked the pictures before, and when I sat down to write something around the pictures, the poem just kind of flowed out of me. I really enjoyed writing the poem, and I hope it inspires you.

Good Times ~ A Poem

Good times come,

Good times go,

I should’ve learned

there’s always an end

to the show,

It went by so fast,

all those beautiful moments,

all left in the past,

should’ve known this wouldn’t last

Amazing people,

who helped me go far,

lifted me up,

helped me reach the stars

When I was broken,

they put my pieces back together,

Stood beside me,

no matter the weather

Beautiful memories,

that will always stay

in my heart,

where they’ll never fade to gray

Laughter and smiles,

that were all worthwhile,

on the right road,

we could drive for miles

River of tears,

and things that went

we felt weak,

but it made us

When we began,

we had no clue,

but we climbed mountains,

and found a gorgeous view

Oh, look how we’ve grown!

something so wonderful,

who would’ve known?

Good times come,

Good times go,

It’s been a long time,

but it feels like it was just

when we embarked on this journey

of new experiences

and learning,

We laughed, We cried,

We never gave up

and we always tried

The time has gone,

We’ll treasure these memories

Hey Dreamers! I hope you liked that poem. It’s probably one of my favorite poems that I’ve ever written because it’s really close to my heart.

My last day of 7th grade was on Tuesday, and I was kind of sad about it. 7th grade was an amazing year for me. It was like I had a breakthrough. I had amazing teachers and amazing friends and I did amazing things. I grew so much, in so many different ways, I felt like I found a new part of myself. And the thing that really stands out to me isn’t something that I won, or accomplished. The thing that stands out to me, is that I was happy. I enjoyed myself every single day, I laughed every single day and that was the best feeling ever. I can say with utmost confidence that 7th grade was one of the best years of my life.

It’s true what they say, you have to enjoy every moment of your life, because those beautiful moments won’t come again.

A Letter to Society

Dear Society,

Look at yourself. Look at what you’ve done to this world. Look at what you’ve done to your people. Girls and boys are harming themselves because you tell them that they need to be a certain way to be happy. Look at them, they’re destroying themselves, just to make you happy. They hate themselves because they don’t have those shiny locks of golden hair, that stick thin body and clear skin that you keep telling them they need to have.

Think of all those amazing people you could’ve created if only you had been accepting. Think of all those people who could’ve changed the world if only you had told them that they could.

Because of you, when those people wake up in the morning and look at themselves in the mirror, they only see ugliness. They tell themselves that they’re not pretty, that they need to be pretty. They look at those perfect, photoshopped  models, that you show them and compare themselves. They try so hard to look like them, only to realize that they’ll never look how you want them to. They’re trying to make you happy, when they should be trying to be happy themselves.

Have you noticed this? Because I have. So, today, I have one request. Stop. Just stop it. Stop telling people that they need to be a certain way to be accepted. Stop telling them that they need to look a certain way to be pretty. Stop telling them to be someone they’re not. Stop showing them those gorgeous, photoshopped models that they will one day aspire to look like, but it won’t be possible, because it’s not real. But most of all, stop telling them that they’re not beautiful. Stop telling them that they’r not worth it, because they are. Every. Single. One of them, is amazing and wonderful and worth it.. So, stop telling them that they’re not and instead, show them the  beautiful people that they are.

Don’t put them down because of who they’re not, but make them feel loved because of who they are. Tell them they’re amazing. Encourage them to throw their heart into what they love to do, and tell them that they are beautiful because of who they are. Please.

Hey Dreamers! I hope you enjoyed that post. I know my last post was on the same topic. I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately , and one day I came home and wrote this in my journal. I strongly believe that everyone in this world is beautiful and needs to feel beautiful, so I really wanted to post this. I hope you liked it and have a great day!

Who You Are ~ A Poem

Stick-thin bodies,

and long blonde hair,

a face full of make up,

pretending that you care

Uncomfortable dresses,

and too-tight shoes,

Beauty is pain,

What’s there to lose?

Society will tell you,

this is who you need to be,

this is what you need to do

to be beautiful and pretty

But I’m here to tell you,

that society is wrong,

those freckles scattered

across your face,

and those hidden,

tiny scars,

Your faded shirt,

and messed up hair,

make you who you are

when you look at yourself,

in the mirror everyday,

don’t listen

to what they say,

because you are beautiful,

and you are pretty,

and you are

who you are

Hey Dreamers! I wrote this poem yesterday, and I really wanted to share it with you. This is something I strongly believe in and it’s a topic that’s really close to my heart, so I hope you liked it!

Voices In My Head ~ A Poem

At night as I lie in bed,

fifty thousand voices in my head,

telling me that my dreams

will never come true

“What has happened to you?”

But the tiny voice

in my heart

assures me

She says,

“You are strong, and you are smart.

if it goes wrong you can

always restart.

Now, go to bed my child,

fall asleep

and let your dreams run wild.”

Hey Dreamers! I hope you liked that poem. I didn’t have any ideas for what to post, so I just decided to post a poem I wrote a few weeks ago.  I was in a poetry block for a while and writing my last post really helped me come out of that. So if you’re ever in a creative block, just force yourself to sit down and create something. I promise, it helps. I hope you enjoyed this post and have a nice day!

NaNoWriMo Update + Snippets

Hey Dreamers! So NaNoWriMo is coming to an end. *sighs* I always enjoy scrambling to get the number of words I need that day finished. Anyways, I decided to do an update post.

Word count goal: 10000

Current word count: 8682

Number of chapters: 13

86% Done!

So here’s the thing: I am 86% done with my word count, but not my story. My story is about 45% done? I don’t really know. I don’t think I’ll finish my story, but I’m kinda okay with it. Is that a bad thing? My goal in NaNo is to get into a daily habit of writing. This story is the longest thing I have ever written and I’m pretty proud of myself. I think my story’s coming together well too. And I just finished writing a really intense argument! How’s your story going?

Here are a few snippets:

This was going to be an interesting trip.

I had no idea what that piece of paper was going to lead me to.

“I believe in you”, she said. Then she turned around and went away. Jia and I looked at each other. Our adventure had just begun.

“I really think it’s this one. I can . . . I can sort of feel it.”

“Okay?”, Eileen asked.

I shook my head. “No.”

“Fine! I will go out there by myself, and I’ll show you that I can take care of myself.”

I was falling. I closed my eyes, I tried to scream, but I couldn’t bring myself to.

“Oh nothing, just that I don’t think pineapples grow in the Redwood Forest and they certainly don’t grow on trees.”

“I’ve forgiven a lot of people for a lot of things. That doesn’t mean I always mean it.”

“So you basically hold grudges?”

“I don’t hold grudges!”

“Yeah I can totally see that.”

“You know what? I can’t handle you right now.”

“You can’t handle ME?! Well, you’re not the one who fell of a who-knows-how-many foot tree and is helping an oversensitive girl cut a pineapple that is not supposed to be here in the first place.”

“You fell of the tree because of your ignorant little mind. If you had just kept your mouth shut, none of this would’ve happened.”

“Well, if you hadn’t been so overcautious, maybe I would have kept my mouth shut.”

“And you’re blaming this on me, so I guess we’re even. And stop screaming.”

“Yeah, totally.”

“Stop being sarcastic!”

“You stop being overdramatic.”

“I am NOT being overdramatic.”

“Yeah, right.”

” I just . . . I can’t handle this right now. We’re in the middle of a forest, cutting a pineapple and arguing over . . .  I don’t even know what we’re arguing about.”

“Then why are we arguing?”

“I don’t know!”

“I don’t know either!”

“You’re the one who started it!”

I really enjoyed writing the last one. If you haven’t already, you should check out Samantha’s snippets, they’re amazing!!!

What did you think of my snippets? How are you doing on your novel?

Tell me in the comments.

Dream On

My National Novel Writing Month Novel

Hey Dreamers! Why am I excited for November? Because it’s National Novel Writing Month! Last year I started late with no plan. That won’t happen this time. I’m going to share my plan for this novel with you guys. Here we go:

My Idea:

I got this Idea, when we traveled to the Redwood Forest. It was amazingly beautiful. I loved it. So here is my idea:

A girl goes on a school field trip to the Redwood Forest. The class stays at a hotel near the forest. Her roommate is a really shy girl, whom she doesn’t like. They find some sort-of clue that,  leads them to to the Redwood Forest to find some treasure. They stumble upon some unexpected circumstances as they adventure into the Redwoods…

That was a horrible synopsis.

Okay, so here’s the thing, before I wrote this post I had no idea what to name my characters. Since, I’m such a procrastinator, I went and searched up names and I found the perfect names. Or so I think.

Eileen Jane Anderson:

  • Has always lived in California.
  • Very smart
  • Loves Science
  • Environmentalist
  • Secretly loves knitting
  • Wants to be a doctor when she grows up
  • Loses her temper easily
  • Most afraid of the effects of pollution
  • What she wants most: To make the world a better place

Jia Yang:

  • Moved from China when she was four
  • Loves playing the Violin
  • Shy
  • Has a hard time standing up for herself
  • Sensitive
  • Wants to be a musician when she grows up
  • Most afraid of being isolated
  • What she wants most: A best friend

So those were my characters. I was thinking of either switching the points of views, so 1 chapter would be in Eileen’s point of view and the 2nd chapter would be in Jia’s point of view. Or I could do it in third point of view. What do you guys think I should do?

That’s all the planning I’ve done for now. Are you guys doing NaNoWriMo this year? What’s your story about? What do you think of my story idea?
